Commission: Poem for Les

Based on the poem “Les’ Laughter” by Marie Wilson.
Painted for one of the most incredible kids I know.

A face sits upon a wall
looking down upon us all
His crumbled limestone nose
cannot smell whatever grows
He looks upon a cement lion
held in place with rods of iron
Him children love to ride upon
flanked by a rhododendron
Fuschia flowers sure to please
set upon by many bees
Bees who buzz through briar and bramble
scare the pants off those who amble
Who, as they hasten, run and cry,
look up to the clear blue sky
To see a face upon a wall
looking down upon us all.

Thanks. These are the things I do that sneak past people for some reason…
